Jennifer Egsgard is a partner with Sills Egsgard LLP, a boutique law firm focusing on cross-border business issues including corporate social responsibility, anti-corruption, foreign expropriation, economic sanctions and customs matters. Jennifer lectures regularly on corporate social responsibilty-related issues including with respect to ethical supply chains, conflict minerals, transparency legislation, and CSR as it relates to anti-corruption laws. Jennifer co-chaired the Human Rights Watch Canada Advocacy Committee from 2007 to 2011, and is a member of Transparency International (Canada)’s legal committee.
Prior to co-founding Sills Egsgard LLP, Jennifer Egsgard‘s legal career included six years of practice at Fasken Martineau, one of Canada’s largest national law firms. There, Jennifer engaged in a diverse litigation practice, with an emphasis on civil, administrative, international and regulatory law matters.
Jennifer acted with Mark Sills for a number of clients in matters before the Canadian International Trade Tribunal, including procurement and anti-dumping matters. As an example, she represented a large Canadian ethanol producer in an anti-dumping and countervailing duty complaint in respect of grain corn imports from the USA.
She advises companies in respect of compliance with anti-bribery laws and corporate social responsibility standards, and recently represented a medium-sized Canadian company in a dispute with a foreign government over proposed royalty tax increases, resulting in defeat of the proposed measures.
