Manager, Corporate Responsibility Policy and Ethics at Talisman Energy
Dr. Frank McShane is the Manager, Corporate Responsibility Policy and Ethics at Talisman Energy. He works in the areas of ethical business practices, community engagement and human rights and security to steward the design and implementation of policies, standards, guidelines, practices, assurance processes, reporting and training that help the company to realize its policy commitments.
Prior to joining Talisman, Frank was Group Lead – Corporate Responsibility at EnCana. He has degrees in Geology from the University of London, Environmental Resource Management from Heriot-Watt, and a doctorate from McGill University. He has taught at universities in Canada, New Zealand and the University of the South Pacific in Fiji and worked for three years at the UK based think-tank, the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED).
He has worked in numerous countries and is published on issues of responsible resource development and the environmental, social and governance issues associated with large-scale resource development.
In 2013 Frank concluded a term as Corporate Pillar Steering Committee representative for the international oil and gas companies participating in the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights and on the Board of Directors of the Voluntary Principles Association. Frank also taught as an associate member of Faculty on the Executive Program in CSR at McGill University’s Institute for the Study of International Development (ISID). He began his career as a geological engineer working in exploration drilling in the oil and gas industry.
