Stephen Nairne is the Chief Investment Officer for Raven Indigenous Capital Partners, an investment firm that aims to empower Indigenous entrepreneurs in Canada and the U.S. with the capital and expertise they need to achieve their goals, strengthen the Indigenous economy, and have a positive and lasting impact on the ecosystem.
Prior to joining Raven Indigenous Capital Partners, Stephen was the Managing Partner of AHL Venture Partners, an impact investing firm dedicated to scaling disruptive, scalable, and mission-driven enterprises across Sub-Saharan Africa. He also served as the Lundin Foundation’s Managing Director, where he managed a growing portfolio of investments in innovative, scalable SMEs and social enterprises in emerging markets and was responsible for the design and implementation of local content initiatives.
Stephen previously served on the Executive Board of the Canadian International Resources and Development Institute (CIRDI) as well as on the advisory boards of several SME funds and companies in Sub-Saharan Africa.
He was also an adjunct professor at the University of British Columbia, where he taught courses on Country Risk Analysis and African Political Economy.
Stephen holds degrees from McGill University and the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs in Ottawa. Stephen lives and works alongside his wife and two children on the traditional unceded territories of the Squamish, Musqueam, and Tsleil Wau-tuth First Nations.
