Dr. Kojo Busia is the founding executive director of AMV Resources Partners Ltd. in Ghana and a non-executive director of the AngloGold Ashanti Group Ltd., the world’s third-largest gold mining company. Holding these industry leadership positions, he contributes rich experience to the board of Green Africa Minerals, a company specializing in green minerals exploration and project development.
His career spans more than 26 years and focuses on the good governance of natural resources. He has also had diverse exposure to various commercial and nonprofit realms (in Africa and globally), including bilateral and multi-lateral organizations from USAID and the United Nations (UN) to AngloGold Ashanti.
Previously in his career, Dr. Busia served as the Senior Mineral Sector Governance Advisor for the United Nations Economic Commission of Africa’s African Mineral Development Centre. He also led the governance and participation team under the African Mining Vision, an African Union mining flagship for sustainable development. He spent nearly a decade leading the United Nations Economic Commission on Africa’s support to the African Peer Review Mechanism for the African Union/NEPAD, helping the flagship program to gain traction and institutional support throughout Africa and globally. In this role, he facilitated the adoption of the Peer Review Mechanism as the major framework for addressing natural resource governance challenges in Africa.
Dr. Kojo Busia applies his seasoned strategic skills to address a multitude of the most complex environmental, social, and governance (ESG) challenges in the natural resources sector while integrating responsible solutions with the best sustainability practices.
Busia is a seasoned ESG expert, sustainability strategist, and international development specialist and frequently lectures on business, economics, governance, and development at major events in Africa and globally.
